The Building Department’s most important responsibility is The construction of Solomon’s Temple in Aizawl, Mizoram. As part of the development of the Solomon’s Temple area, the Department has also undertaken the construction of the Solomon’s Temple Cafeteria for the convenience of temple visitors. In addition, the maintenance and improvement of the Solomon’s Temple building are also entrusted to the Building Department.
According to the Executive Committee’s decision, the Department takes charge of the major construction works and their continued maintenance. Furthermore, whenever Local Churches in different localities/towns plan to construct their church buildings, the Building Department usually provides initial guidance; however, except for this, the Department does not interfere in matters concerning Local Churches. The Department is generally responsible for all structural works, including complete roof designs, and provides such support when needed.
